I want this one!
A long term goal of mine has been to open a LAN/Gaming center in our area. To this end, I routinely scout the game market to see what is upcoming in the industry. I recently found this game to be published by Electronic Arts, a leader in the gaming industry.
This game has a release date on November third this year, and after looking through the history, storyline, weapons, armor, and characters, I am very excited to write about it and let all see some of the screenshots.
The title of this game is Dragon Age Origins. It takes place in a land called Ferelden and is ruled by noblemen who earn their position with valor and ruthless justice and temperance. The darkspawn horde in the south is on the rise again, pressing the need for the Teryn of Highever to put out the call for an army to come to King Cailan's aid at once. The Grey Wardens make up this army comprised of mages, City Elves, Dwarf Nobles and commoners, Daelish Elves, and Humans.
Players will be able to choose from three classes; warrior, mage and rogue. According to the games website, players shall be able to customize their character with "the most detailed facial customization tool BioWare has created to date". There are 6 Origins stories available for play, with advancements in all classes of warrior. The total possibilities for advancement will depend on how you go about your gameplay. The more you explore, the more you will develop your character. Your personal character shall make many decisions along your chosen path that will effect the reactions of your Non-player characters in either a positive or a negative way. The game is modeled to enhance teamwork and personal relationships. Not just to conquer everything in site making the game more challenging.
Combat in Dragon Age Origins will be real time and not turn based, (i.e. Final Fantasy). There are multitudes of hand weapons available from dual wielding to single, and many types of magic spells that can be combined to obtain unique results. The site states that recovery time outside of the battles is relatively quick so we shall need to use the party camps primarily to heal long term injuries.
The game comes with the option to handle your parties abilities, level ups, etc. or you can allow the game to do that for you. Party members do not die in combat, but they will be unable to assist once their level reaches zero. Dependent on the injuries, they will be back in action after the battle or after rest in the party camp. As with other BioWare titles, there will be romance possible in this game if one decides to pursue it.
The artwork in this game looks phenomenal! And with the class work of BioWare's eclipse game engine promises to play excellent! I myself am eagerly awaiting November thirds release. This game is available for pre-orderĀ at many distributors, including GameStop, Amazon.com, and WalMart just to name a few. Nice review - I have to say, your Hub makes it look exciting but sadly it's not all that it was hyped up to be. My main issue is the title of the game,
1) There's barely any dragons.
2) It ages quickly.
3) There's barely anything original about it.
I haven't played the sequel but I hope to soon. But after seeing Mass Effect 2, and how the decisions completely destroy your gameplay at Endgame, I doubt much has improved in DA2.
As for constructive criticism, all I can see is:
1) Use more subheadings, perhaps add a tad more content.
2) Don't cram the images to the right/left, as I'm only getting around 3 words per line.
Well done on the work - you've got another follower! ^^
